New Delhi: Amid mounting pressure from the US and China, India received a significant diplomatic boost as Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a new trilateral technology and innovation partnership with Australia and Canada. Modi shared the development on his Twitter handle, saying the three nations will now work closely together.
The announcement came after PM Modi held a joint meeting with his Australian and Canadian counterparts on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit. “We are going to form a new partnership. We will work together, the three countries will work together for the future,” PM Modi said.
According to officials, the initiative will strengthen cooperation in emerging technologies and support greater adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) among democracies spanning three continents and three oceans.
Representatives from India, Australia and Canada are scheduled to meet in the first quarter of 2026 to take the partnership forward.
Earlier on Saturday, PM Modi also held separate meetings with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
