PM Modi degree: Congress objects to Delhi HC’s decision, calls it ‘beyond comprehension’

New Delhi: The Congress on Monday objected to the Delhi High Court’s decision to set aside the Central Information Commission’s (CIC) order on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s graduation degree, calling the ruling “beyond comprehension.”

The party said it was unclear why the prime minister’s educational qualifications were being kept secret when details of other public figures are available in the public domain.

“The people of the country have the right to know the educational qualifications of their prime minister. When such details of everyone else are public, why should this remain hidden?” Congress leaders asked.

Earlier in the day, the Delhi High Court ruled that PM Modi’s degree details are “personal information” and said there was no “clear public interest” in their disclosure. The verdict was delivered by Justice Sachin Dutta on an appeal filed by Delhi University.
