PM Modi, Keir Starmer hold talks in Mumbai; announce wider cooperation in critical minerals, defence and education

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Keir Starmer held a bilateral meeting in Mumbai on Thursday, marking their first interaction since the signing of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two nations in July.

During the talks, both leaders announced expanded cooperation in key sectors, including critical minerals, joint development of military equipment, and the establishment of more campuses of UK-based universities in India.

The British Prime Minister also announced a new agreement to facilitate the production of more Bollywood films in the UK, strengthening cultural ties between the two nations.

Speaking at a joint press conference, PM Modi said the technology partnership between India and the UK holds immense potential. “We are focusing on linking the UK’s industrial expertise and R&D with India’s talent and scale,” Modi said.
