NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday saluted the supreme sacrifice of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, calling for nationwide observance of Veer Bal Diwas on December 26. Addressing the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting in the capital, the Prime Minister said the day serves as a reminder of unmatched courage and devotion.
The Government had declared December 26 as Veer Bal Diwas in 2022 to honour the martyrdom of the two younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh.
The Sahibzadas were bricked alive on December 26, 1704, on the orders of Wazir Khan, the Mughal faujdar of Sirhind, after they refused to convert to Islam despite threats from Emperor Aurangzeb.
Prime Minister Modi also urged MPs to strengthen their engagement with citizens and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to reforms aimed at improving “Ease of Living” for the common man.
