PM Modi says Veer Bal Diwas honours sacrifice of Sahibzadas

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said Veer Bal Diwas is a day of devotion dedicated to remembering the sacrifice of the brave Sahibzadas, the sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

The Prime Minister announced on January 9, 2022, on the occasion of the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, that December 26 would be observed as Veer Bal Diwas. The day marks the martyrdom of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh Ji and Sahibzada Baba Fateh Singh Ji, whose sacrifice continues to inspire generations.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Veer Bal Diwas is a day of devotion, dedicated to the sacrifice of the brave Sahibzades. We recall Mata Gujri Ji’s unwavering faith and the immortal teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.” He said the day stands for courage, determination and justice and added that the lives and ideals of the Sahibzadas will continue to inspire people for generations.

PM Modi will also address an event in Delhi on the occasion.

To mark Veer Bal Diwas, the Government of India is organising various activities across the country to raise awareness about the courage and supreme sacrifice of the Sahibzadas and to honour their bravery. These activities include storytelling sessions, poetry recitation, poster making and essay writing competitions.
