PM Modi to address NDA parliamentary party meeting tomorrow

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the BJP-led NDA’s parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday, a key gathering of ruling coalition MPs being held after a long hiatus. The meeting comes just days before the filing of nominations begins for the upcoming vice-presidential election scheduled for September 9.

According to the Election Commission’s schedule, the NDA must announce its candidate by August 21. Given its majority in the electoral college—comprising 782 members from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha—the NDA nominee is expected to win comfortably. However, the possibility of the opposition fielding its own candidate remains high.

The meeting is being held amid a stormy Parliament session, during which legislative business has largely stalled. Only a two-day special discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack and ‘Operation Sindoor’ has taken place so far. The Opposition has been vocally protesting against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar in both Houses.

PM Modi is likely to speak on several current issues during the session. The parliamentary party is also expected to felicitate him for the government’s military response following the Pahalgam attack.
