PM Modi visits LNJP Hospital, to chair CCS meeting on Red Fort blast

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday visited LNJP Hospital to meet the victims of the Red Fort blast and inquired about their condition. He wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the explosion.

After returning from his two-day visit to Bhutan, PM Modi went directly to the hospital from the airport. The Prime Minister is expected to soon chair a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to review the situation.

The meeting will be attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. According to officials, Shah will present the probe agencies’ report on the Delhi blast, and the committee will discuss the next course of action.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police has claimed that one of the three doctors arrested so far, Dr. Muzammil Ganai, had conducted multiple recces in the Red Fort area in January this year. Investigators suspect the reconnaissance was part of a larger plan to target the monument on Republic Day, which may have been thwarted due to increased security patrolling at the time.

In a related development, the Special Cell of Delhi Police has detained a car dealer from Faridabad in connection with the case. Sources said Amit, the owner of Royal Car Plaza, was taken into custody from his Sector 37 office with the help of Faridabad Police shortly after the blast. Amit is alleged to have facilitated the sale of the Hyundai i20 used in Monday’s explosion.
