Mohali: Police raided the A-One Luxury Spa Centre in the Pir Muchalla area of Dhakoli late on Tuesday night and exposed an alleged prostitution racket being run under the guise of a spa.
Police said they had been receiving complaints about illegal activities at the spa for a long time. After verifying the inputs, a planned raid was conducted. During the operation, eight young women and three men were detained from the premises.
Considering the seriousness of the case, the police called the Tehsildar to the spot and sealed the building in his presence. Police are now probing the involvement of other people linked to the illegal activity and are also investigating whether a larger network is involved.
Officials said the detained persons are being questioned. The role of the spa operator and the property owner is also under investigation and legal action will be taken as per the findings.
The raid has triggered discussion in the area, with local residents demanding that the administration continue strict action against such illegal businesses to prevent similar activities in the future.
