Chandigarh: The strike by contract workers of Punjab Roadways Transport Corporation (PRTC) and Punbus ended on Friday afternoon after the Punjab government initiated swift negotiations in response to their demands.
The employees had gone on strike earlier in the day, protesting the state government’s delay in addressing their issues.
However, with the festival of Raksha Bandhan scheduled for Saturday the government moved quickly to avoid disruption to public transport across the state.
Officials said that within an hour and a half of the protest, a meeting was held with the workers to address their grievances. Transport services are expected to run normally on Saturday.
