Chandigarh: The Punjab School Education Board has declared the Class 8 results for the academic session 2025–26, with an overall pass percentage of 96.51%.
A total of 2,62,966 students from 10,422 schools appeared in the examination, out of which 2,53,789 students passed.
Girls secured the top three positions in the merit list. Tamanna, daughter of Narendra Kumar from Saraswati Senior Secondary School, Jaito (Faridkot), topped the exam with a perfect score of 600/600 (100%).
Japneet Kaur, daughter of Kuldeep Singh from Government Middle School, Arkawas (Sangrur), secured second position with 598 marks (99.67%), while Jashandeep Kaur, daughter of Harpreet Singh from Sant Mohan Das Memorial Senior Secondary School, Kot Sukhia (Faridkot), also scored 598 marks to secure third rank.
As per board rules, in case of a tie, the younger candidate is placed higher in the merit list.
PSEB Chairman Dr Amarpal Singh said the exams were conducted with greater strictness and transparency this year. He added that efforts will continue to improve question paper quality and introduce necessary curriculum reforms to strengthen future board examinations.
