CHANDIGARH: Hours after Navjot Kaur Sidhu levelled serious allegations against Punjab Congress chief Raja Warring, the political atmosphere in Punjab intensified further, with senior BJP leader Sunil Jakhar calling for a time-bound inquiry into corruption in the state.
In a statement, Jakhar urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to initiate an investigation under the supervision of the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He said such an inquiry was necessary to “reach the root cause of corruption” and restore public trust.
Jakhar said corruption had become a “menace” in society and noted that senior Congress leaders, who once governed the country for decades, were now accusing each other of serious wrongdoing.
Reminding the chief minister of his earlier remarks describing corruption as “cancer,” Jakhar said, “Bhagwant Mann ji, you also say that you have files, so why don’t you open them? I had written to you earlier and I again request you to conduct a time-bound inquiry into all leaders of all parties, including me, under the supervision of the Hon’ble Chief Justice, so that the truth comes out and it becomes clear where the proceeds of corruption have gone.”
The BJP leader said that only an impartial, court-monitored investigation could ensure transparency and accountability at a time when political accusations in Punjab have sharply escalated.
