Background of the case
The case relates to the alleged disappearance of 328 sacred saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib from SGPC records. An FIR was registered under IPC Sections 295, 295-A, 409, 465 and 120-B for hurting religious sentiments, criminal breach of trust, forgery and criminal conspiracy.
The complaint was filed by former Hazoori Ragi of Sri Darbar Sahib and Sikh Sadbhavana Dal chief Baldev Singh Wadala, who had staged a protest near Heritage Street close to Sri Harmandir Sahib demanding strict action.
So far, two individuals — former SGPC auditor Satinder Singh Kohli and ex-employee Kanwaljit Singh — have been arrested in connection with the case.
An earlier SIT was headed by Jagpreet Singh, AIG Vigilance, Mohali, along with other senior police officials. The investigation remains ongoing.
