CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Cabinet on Saturday approved convening a one-day special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha at Sri Anandpur Sahib to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur. The session, scheduled for November 24, will focus on the teachings and sacrifice of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
The cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, was briefed by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on the decisions taken.
In another key decision, the Cabinet approved the creation of a separate cadre for around three thousand employees of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), under which posts in Powercom and the Irrigation Department will be filled. Earlier, BBMB recruited employees on deputation from Punjab, but reluctance among staff had left many posts vacant.
The Cabinet also approved amendments to allow allocation of large plots to private developers, including PUDA, GMADA, and other authorities, provided the minimum plot size is not less than 500 square yards.
Additionally, out of four thousand square yards of delisted properties, permission has been granted to construct houses on 400 square yards of land.
