Chandigarh: The Punjab government’s cabinet met on Wednesday at the Chief Minister’s residence in Chandigarh to discuss key issues ahead of the upcoming assembly session from September 26 to 29.
According to government sources, the cabinet is set to approve revised rules for compensating flood-affected families. The new provisions are expected to ease the earlier strict norms, enabling more victims to access financial relief. The government is also working on a mechanism to compensate losses suffered by farmers who had cultivated land on lease.
The proposals finalised in the meeting will be presented in the assembly. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema is scheduled to hold a press conference at 2 pm at Punjab Bhawan to share details of the decisions taken.
The assembly session will begin at 11 am on September 26 and run for two working days, as September 27 and 28 fall on the weekend.
