Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann moves into second official residence in Jalandhar after 16 months

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann moved in his second official residence located at Old Baradari on Monday nearly 16 months after it was reserved for him.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur and senior officials of the Public Works Department along with other administrative officers escorted the Chief Minister to the residence. His wife Dr Gurpreet Kaur who was in Jalandhar to attend a Lohri programme near Phillaur later joined him.

The Chief Minister is likely to hold a ‘Lok Milni’ programme at the residence today. Temporary German tents have been set up in the open space in front of the house. Messages about the ‘Lok Milni’ were conveyed to the public through MLAs and Aam Aadmi Party constituency in-charges. The programme is expected to continue till the afternoon after which the Chief Minister is likely to leave.

It is worth noting that during the Jalandhar West by-election in June 2024 the Chief Minister stayed in a rented house at Royal Estate near the cantonment. During that period he held public meetings under the banner of ‘Sarkar Tuhade Dwar’. He vacated that house about a year ago.
