Punjab DGP submits reply to Delhi Assembly Secretariat on FIR over alleged Atishi video

Chandigarh: Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav has submitted a written response in connection with the FIR registered by Jalandhar police over the circulation of an alleged video of former Delhi chief minister and AAP leader Atishi, following a letter issued by the Delhi Assembly Secretariat on January 23.

In his reply, the DGP informed the Secretariat that the response on the matter has been forwarded to the additional chief secretary (home) of the Punjab government for approval. He also said that a written response has been received from the Jalandhar police commissioner and has been sent to the competent authority for further action.

Separately, the Jalandhar police commissioner, in a response routed through the DGP, said a written reply related to the FIR has already been submitted and will be forwarded to the Delhi Assembly Secretariat after receiving the required approval.

The Assembly Secretariat has sought multiple records in the matter, including the complaint received by police officials and the forensic report from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Punjab. As per a letter issued on January 16, the documents were initially required to be submitted by January 22.

However, as the FSL report and related forensic records were not received within the stipulated time, a reminder was issued. Subsequently, through another letter dated January 23, the deadline for submission was extended to January 28, reiterating the requirement for the complete forensic record.

The Secretariat said that despite the extension, the forensic report has still not been submitted.
