Punjab government suspends Amritsar Rural SSP

Amritsar: The Punjab government has suspended Amritsar Rural SSP Maninder Singh following concerns over increasing gangster activities in the district and alleged failure to take effective action against them, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said.

Government sources said there were reports of delays in handling important cases and laxity in controlling gang-related crimes. Taking these issues seriously, the state government decided to take strict action.

IPS Maninder Singh, a 2019 batch officer, had served as Assistant Commissioner of Police in Amritsar City before being appointed SSP of Amritsar Dehati.

He has also held posts as Superintendent of Police in Tarn Taran district.
