Chandigarh: The Punjab government will focus on modernising 166 cities in the state, including 13 large cities, under a mission mode plan covering roads, cleanliness and street lights. Major changes are expected between December and January, officials said.
Sewage treatment will also be implemented across the state, along with the Seechewal model of wastewater management.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal announced this during the inauguration of a 15 million gallons per day (MGD) capacity sewage treatment plant in Sector-83, Mohali.
Taking a dig at the opposition parties, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that trees and canals do not have votes, otherwise these parties would have sought ties with them too. Mann also recalled his childhood, saying, “My grandmother used to swing from this tree.”
