Punjab Government’s ‘Mission Chardi Kala’ Becomes a New Symbol of Social Responsibility: From Industrialists to Athletes, Everyone Contributes

Punjab E News: The Punjab Government’s Mission Chardi Kala has successfully united every section of society. Under this campaign, eminent personalities from India and abroad are extending help in large numbers. The transparent and accountable system adopted by the government has built trust among common citizens, industrialists, film stars, and the Punjabi diaspora alike, assuring them that every contribution is directly benefiting the people.

Renowned industrialist and philanthropist Dr. Vikramjit Sahney has made one of the most significant contributions. He not only donated ₹1 crore in relief funds but also provided over 1,000 disinfection machines and relief materials. Sahney has earlier been known for extending scholarships to poor students, supporting women with self-employment opportunities, and supplying oxygen concentrators during the Covid-19 crisis through his global Punjabi network. His current contribution sends out the message that the right use of technology and resources can truly shape Punjab’s future.

Film actor Sonu Sood, who became a household name during the Covid crisis for providing free transport, medicines, and employment campaigns for lakhs of people, has once again extended wholehearted support to Mission Chardi Kala. Apart from donating ₹5 crore, he also announced that through his foundation, he will launch skill training and employment drives for the youth in affected areas.

Similarly, industrialist Rakesh Bhatia expressed his deep trust in the Punjab Government by donating ₹10 crore to Mission Chardi Kala. Earlier, Bhatia has supported farmers by building modern cold storage facilities and introducing hi-tech management systems in mandis. He said that contributing to Punjab’s recovery is his social responsibility.

Popular Punjabi cinema actress Neeru Bajwa also won hearts by donating ₹1 crore. She said Punjab gave her name and recognition, and now the Punjab Government is justifying that trust through fair action. Bajwa has previously contributed to rural schools and girls’ education several times.

Through Mission Chardi Kala, the united spirit of sportspersons also came forward. Sports icons Sandeep Singh and Harbhajan Singh jointly donated ₹2 crore and announced that, in collaboration with the government, affected children will be given free training and scholarships in sports academies. The Punjab Government described this as the finest example of sportsmanship and Punjabi spirit.

Punjabi diaspora communities in Canada and the UK have also made substantial contributions. Organizations of overseas Punjabis sent nearly ₹50 crore to Mission Chardi Kala. These groups have earlier helped rebuild schools, hospitals, and villages in Punjab. Their participation has given this campaign a global dimension.

The administrative dedication of Sakshi Sawhney, Amritsar’s first woman Deputy Commissioner, has also been widely appreciated. She had earlier earned recognition for her outstanding work during Covid management. Now, under Mission Chardi Kala, she is overseeing the ground-level implementation of relief resources and monitoring self-help group programs for women. The government praised her efforts, calling them a living example of Punjab’s administrative strength.

The Chief Minister said that due to the digital tracking system introduced by the government, every rupee is being accounted for transparently before the public. This transparency has made Mission Chardi Kala a people’s movement powered by collective contributions. Today, Mission Chardi Kala is no longer just a government scheme but a joint movement of society and the government. Whether industrialists, artists, athletes, diaspora communities, or administrative officers—everyone’s participation reflects Punjab’s strength and its eternal spirit of Chardi Kala.
