Amritsar: The Punjab government has suspended Amritsar Vigilance SSP Lakhbir Singh with immediate effect in connection with alleged irregularities and misappropriation of crores of rupees in development-related tenders in the city’s posh Ranjit Avenue area.
According to sources, the action was taken following a complaint lodged by an IAS officer. When contacted, SSP Lakhbir Singh said he had come to know about his suspension but was unaware of the actual reasons behind the decision.
He further said that he has not yet received any official suspension order and therefore could not comment further on the matter.
