Chandigarh: The Punjab government has announced the recruitment of 672 staff nurses to further improve services in government healthcare institutions across the state.
Eligible candidates can apply online through the official website of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. The application portal will remain open from March 13 to April 2, under the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
Health Minister Balbir Singh said the new recruitment is in addition to the previously approved 406 staff nurse posts. Out of those, 275 appointment letters have already been issued, and the nurses have been deployed in various sub-divisional and district hospitals across Punjab.
The minister said that the recruitment of 672 additional nurses will help reduce the workload at primary and secondary healthcare facilities and improve patient care.
More doctors recruited in recent years
The minister also stated that over 1,500 doctors have been recruited in recent years, including 600 specialists and 948 general doctors. These appointments account for around 35% of the total doctors currently serving in Punjab’s public health system.
The state government has also focused on expanding the network of Aam Aadmi Clinics while strengthening secondary healthcare services.
Investment in medicines and medical equipment
In addition, the government has ensured the supply of free medicines and modern medical equipment worth more than ₹300 crore to government hospitals.
The minister added that under the Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana, families in Punjab are being provided health insurance coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per year, enabling them to receive quality treatment without financial burden.
