Chandigarh: Punjabi actor and model Himanshi Khurana has allegedly received a death threat along with a demand for ₹10 crore in extortion from unidentified gangsters, police said on Wednesday.
According to officials, the threat was conveyed to the actor through a phone call. Soon after receiving the call, Khurana approached the Mohali police and lodged a formal complaint.
Police said they have begun examining the call details and are verifying the source of the threat. “Given the seriousness of the matter, a thorough investigation is underway,” a police officer said, adding that further legal action will follow based on the findings.
Himanshi Khurana, a native of Kiratpur Sahib in Punjab, rose to prominence after winning the Miss Ludhiana title in 2011. She later made a mark in the Punjabi entertainment industry with music videos and films, including Sadda Haq and the hit song Soch. Her appearance on Bigg Boss 13 brought her nationwide recognition.
Police have not disclosed further details about the alleged callers, and the investigation is ongoing.
