Mohali: Punjabi singers Karan Aujla and Honey Singh, summoned by the Punjab State Commission for Women for allegedly using indecent words against women in their songs, did not appear at the commission’s office in Mohali on August 11.
Since both singers are currently abroad, they spoke to the commission’s chairperson Raj Lali Gill over the phone and apologized for the objectionable language used in their songs. They assured the commission that they will appear in person after their return.
Earlier, the Women’s Commission had issued separate letters to the Punjab DGP and the Director of the Bureau of Investigation, directing them to take action against the singers and produce them before the commission.
Chairperson Raj Lali Gill confirmed the apologies received and said the singers could not attend in person due to their overseas commitments. The commission is expected to take further steps once the singers return.
