New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday called for a detailed discussion in Parliament on the rising air pollution levels in the national capital, urging the government to treat the worsening situation as a public health emergency.
He questioned why Prime Minister PM Modi had not spoken on the issue, saying the silence from the highest office was concerning.
Gandhi said the Centre must present a strict and actionable plan to address air pollution and asked why the Union government was “showing neither urgency nor accountability” despite the severity of the crisis.
The Congress leader met a group of women at his residence to discuss the impact of pollution on families. Sharing a video of the interaction, he wrote that “every mom I meet tells me the same thing: her baby is growing up breathing toxic air. They are tired, frightened, and angry.”
