Ram Rahim granted 40-day parole, heads to Sirsa Dera to celebrate birthday

Chandigarh: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is serving a 20-year jail sentence in Rohtak’s Sunaria jail for raping and murdering two sadhvis, has been granted parole for 40 days. He left for Sirsa Dera on Tuesday morning. This marks the 14th time Ram Rahim has been released on parole or furlough.

Soon after reaching the Dera, Ram Rahim addressed his followers through a video message. “You people have come to have darshan and obey us every time. I request you with folded hands to serve others and stay in your place. Congratulations for the service you are doing,” he said.

According to sources, the Dera chief has been granted parole this time to celebrate his 58th birthday, which falls on August 15. Authorities have prohibited large gatherings at the Sirsa Dera, but Ram Rahim has been virtually interacting with his followers. On his birthday, lakhs of saplings are typically planted by his supporters, a practice cited as one of the reasons behind his parole request.

Dera spokesperson Jitendra Khurana said, “Ram Rahim has been granted parole for 40 days by the state’s competent authority within the ambit of law. These days will be spent in Baba’s Sirsa Dera.”

Earlier, Ram Rahim was released on a 21-day furlough on April 9, 2025, during which he remained at the Sirsa Dera and participated in the foundation day celebrations.
