Randhawa case raised in Lok Sabha; Amit Shah indicates for CBI probe

New Delhi: The alleged suicide case of warehousing officer Gagandeep Singh Randhawa echoed in the Lok Sabha on Sunday, with political attention intensifying over the issue.

Raising the matter in Parliament, MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla sought action, following which Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the case could be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation if Punjab MPs submit a formal request.

Shah stated that since the matter pertains to Punjab, a collective written request from MPs of the state would enable the Centre to transfer the probe to the CBI.

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased continues to refuse postmortem until the arrest of former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar and other accused named in the FIR.

Randhawa’s wife Upinder Kaur reiterated that the family would be forced to protest on the streets if the arrests are not made within a stipulated time.

Adding to the developments, a CCTV video has surfaced allegedly showing Randhawa consuming a poisonous substance at his residence. In the footage, he is seen walking in distress in the verandah before taking the extreme step.

Even on the third day after the incident, the postmortem has not been conducted as the family remains firm on its demand for immediate arrests of all those accused of abetment.

The case continues to trigger political and public debate, with calls for accountability and a fair investigation growing louder.
