RUPNAGAR: A retired DSP of Chandigarh Police, Dilsher Singh, shot AAP leader Nitin Nanda from Anandpur Sahib in Agampur village on Wednesday afternoon. Sources said the former officer fired two shots at Nanda, who was rushed to the civil hospital in Anandpur where his condition is said to be stable.
Nanda, who earlier served as a Shiv Sena leader in Rupnagar before joining the Aam Aadmi Party, reportedly had an old enmity with Dilsher Singh over a property dispute.
Rupnagar SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana said the two got into an argument during a social function in Agampur village, following which Dilsher Singh opened fire with his licensed revolver.
“Nitin Nanda’s condition is stable. The accused has been arrested and a case of attempt to murder has been registered against him,” the SSP said.
