MOHALI: Retired Lieutenant General D S Hooda’s car collided with a Punjab Police vehicle on the Zirakpur flyover in Mohali on Wednesday. Hooda alleged that the collision was deliberate.
He and his wife escaped unhurt, though their car sustained heavy damage. Hooda tagged Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and DGP Gaurav Yadav on social media, urging them to take immediate action.
ASP Zirakpur Ghazalpreet Kaur said the matter had not yet come to their notice, adding, “If a complaint is received, action will be taken immediately.”
In a social media post, General Hooda said the incident occurred around 4 pm while he was driving with his wife. Two Punjab Police vehicles, part of a VIP convoy heading towards Ambala, approached from behind with sirens blaring.
Hooda claimed he slowed down to let the first vehicle pass, but due to heavy traffic, the VIP vehicle behind was delayed by about three seconds. “This angered the driver of the escort jeep, who deliberately turned sharply to the right and overtook from the left, hitting the front of my car,” he wrote.
