In a historic milestone under the Roshan Punjab Campaign, Revenue Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian on Wednesday inaugurated and laid foundation stone of multiple the restructuring and renovation electrical projects valued at Rs 1171 crores under the Ludhiana Central Zone of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL).
This initiative marks a significant step towards ensuring 24-hour uninterrupted electricity supply to all homes, farms, and industries across Punjab.
Presiding over the main event at the GIS 220kV Substation, Focal Point Sherpur, Minister Mundian accompanied by MLAs Madan Lal Bagga, Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal, Ashok Parashar Pappi, Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina, and Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur along with senior officials of PSPCL, Â underscored Punjab’s pioneering status as the first state in the country to achieve round-the-clock power supply through comprehensive upgrades, including the upgrading old power infrastructure, installation of new power transformers, advanced wires, and construction of new substations to bolster the state’s power network. He highlighted that these projects reflect the state government’s unwavering commitment to modernizing Punjab’s power infrastructure. He emphasized that the initiative will not only enhance the reliability of electricity supply but also support agricultural and industrial growth, contributing to the state’s economic prosperity.
Mundian also added the Punjab government’s ambitious scheme of providing 300 free power units monthly, a policy that has brought relief to over 90% of the state’s population with zero electricity bills since 2022. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to honour every promise made to the people, reinforcing trust and delivering benefits to citizens. He also highlighted that this is new era of energy security and sustainable development for Punjab, aligning with the vision of a brighter, empowered future under the Roshan Punjab Campaign.
