Rs 12.17 lakh cyber investment fraud reported in Jalandhar’s Shahkot

Jalandhar: A major cyber investment fraud case has surfaced in Shahkot area of Jalandhar, where police have registered a case against unknown persons for allegedly cheating a man of about ₹12.17 lakh in the name of investment.

According to police, the complaint was filed by Amritpal Singh, a resident of Jain Colony in Shahkot. He said he was lured into investing through an online app named ‘Neo Wealth E’. The fraud allegedly began on October 13.

The complainant said he deposited around ₹7.50 lakh through the app, after which a profit of about ₹82.36 lakh was shown on the platform.

However, when he tried to withdraw the amount, he was asked to pay additional money in the name of service tax and other charges. Police have started an investigation into the matter.
