Chandigarh: Senior IPS officer Sagar Preet Hooda has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Chandigarh.
A 1997 batch IPS officer of the Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre, Hooda will take charge with immediate effect, according to an order issued by the Union Home Ministry.
Before this appointment, Hooda was serving as Special Commissioner in the Intelligence Division of Delhi Police since January 2024.
He had earlier held the charge of Special Commissioner (Law and Order) from January 2022 to January 2024, and served as Joint Commissioner in Delhi from February 2021 to February 2022.
