Sultanpur Lodhi News: Rajya Sabha Member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal has released a grant of over ₹14.63 lakh from his discretionary funds to provide water tankers to four villages. These 5,000-litre capacity tankers will play a vital role in environmental conservation and in meeting the daily needs of the villages.
The villages of Kapurthala that received these tankers are – Jainpur, Shahwala Andarisa, Haibatpur, and Talwandi Chaudhrian. Expressing gratitude, the gram panchayats of these villages said that the tankers will not only serve common village functions but will also be very useful for weddings in families. The 5,000-litre capacity tankers will ensure water supply for plants in and around the villages, as well as for different social gatherings.
Balwinder Singh, Sarpanch of Talwandi Chaudhrian, honoured Sant Seechewal and said that by fulfilling the need for water tankers, a huge support has been provided to the villagers, which will also help in making the environment greener. He further said that even during the floods, Sant Seechewal has been actively engaged in helping the affected families right from day one, which is truly commendable. On this occasion, he also contributed ₹50,000 on behalf of the entire village for flood relief services.
Joginder Singh, Sarpanch of Shahwala Andarisa, said that in his lifetime he has seen many political leaders, but never anyone who works with the same seriousness and transparency as Sant Seechewal. He added that despite holding such a high position, Sant Seechewal still lives among the people in a simple and approachable way.
Major Singh, Sarpanch of Jainpur, and the Sarpanch of Haibatpur Balbir SIngh, stated that their villages were in dire need of water tankers. Every year, during large-scale events, villagers faced severe difficulties due to water shortages. Moreover, the trees and plants planted annually would wither away for lack of water, but now, with these tankers, all plants will be well cared for. On this occasion, members of the gram panchayats along with other prominent personalities of the villages were also present.
