Chandigarh: The controversy over the installation of photos of Congress leaders on the picture of Bhai Jaita during the Tarn Taran by-election rally is deepening. Punjab Scheduled Castes Commission Chairman Jasbir Singh Gadi has issued another notice to the Congress.
The Commission has directed Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa to appear in person on November 10 and the Deputy Commissioner of Tarn Taran district on November 17. This is the second notice in the matter, following an earlier notice to state Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring.
The SC Commission has initiated an inquiry suo motu under Section 10(2)(h) of the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes Act-2004, following complaints about the derogatory use of photographs of Bhai Jiwan Singh (Bhai Jaita) and 9th Patshahi Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur for political purposes. Notices have been issued based on these complaints.
The Commission added that if replies and reports are not submitted by the due dates, it will not be able to exercise its civil court-like powers under Section 10(1).
