New Delhi: The Supreme Court has stayed the Bombay High Court’s decision to acquit 12 accused in the 2006 Mumbai train blasts case. The Maharashtra government had moved the apex court challenging the high court’s order.
The Supreme Court said the high court’s decision will not be treated as a precedent. On Monday, a special bench of Justices Anil Kilor and Shyam Chandak of the Bombay High Court had acquitted all 12 accused, observing that the prosecution had completely failed to prove the charges and it was difficult to believe that the accused committed the crime.
