New Delhi: Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Shatrujeet Singh Kapur was on Wednesday appointed as the director general of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), according to an official order.
Kapur will succeed Praveen Kumar, who has been appointed as the new director general of the Border Security Force (BSF).
A 1990-batch IPS officer of the Haryana cadre, Kapur is currently serving in his home cadre. The Union home ministry said his tenure as ITBP director general will continue until October 31, 2026, which is the date of his superannuation.
Praveen Kumar, a 1993-batch IPS officer of the West Bengal cadre, will serve as the BSF director general until September 30, 2030.
Meanwhile, Rakesh Asthana has been appointed as the new chief of the National Investigation Agency, the order added.
