Toronto: Canadian police have arrested separatist leader Inderjit Singh Gosal in Whitby, Ontario, on more than a dozen firearms-related offences, local media reported.

According to Global News, Ontario provincial police arrested Gosal on Friday for reckless use of a handgun and other related offences. Court documents cited in the report said Gosal, 36, was arraigned on Monday in Oshawa.

He has been charged along with Armaan Singh, 23, of Toronto, and Jagdeep Singh, 41, of New York.

The report said Gosal is leading a referendum campaign on Khalistan, a role he assumed after the death of coordinator Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
