AMRITSAR: The election for the president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) is scheduled for Monday at the Teja Singh Samudri Hall in the Golden Temple complex. The Akali Dal has confirmed its support for the incumbent president, Harjinder Singh Dhami.
The opposition party’s candidate has not yet been announced. Reports suggest that the name of Bibi Jagir Kaur may be declared by the Akali Dal (Sudhar Lehar) either today or tomorrow.
Meanwhile, current SGPC secretary Pratap Singh indicated that the election could be held by consensus.
The Chief Secretary also hinted at the possibility of a unanimous decision in favour of the sitting president, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami.
