Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal likely to return for Asia Cup 2025; Sai Sudarshan in contention despite poor form

New Delhi: Indian Test captain Shubman Gill and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal are likely to make a comeback to the T20 side for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. According to reports, both players are strong contenders for selection in the squad, which is yet to be officially announced.

The Asia Cup will be held in the UAE and Abu Dhabi from September 9 to 28, featuring eight teams. Gill and Jaiswal recently featured in the five-Test Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series against England and are expected to bring top-order stability to the T20 squad.

Meanwhile, left-handed batter Sai Sudarshan is also in contention for a spot in the squad. Sudarshan made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe last year but hasn’t featured in the format since. Despite a disappointing outing on the England tour—scoring just 140 runs in six innings across three matches at an average of 23.33—selectors are reportedly still considering him.

The final squad for the Asia Cup is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
