Sidhu Moosewala’s parents stage sit-in at SSP office, seek FIR in alleged financial fraud case

Chandigarh: Parents of late singer Sidhu Moosewala staged a protest inside the SSP office complex on Wednesday, demanding registration of an FIR in an alleged financial fraud case linked to two companies owned by their son.

Balkaur Singh and his wife Charan Kaur sat on the floor inside the office premises for nearly 45 minutes before being called in to meet senior officials. The protest coincided with a visit by Bathinda Range DIG Harjit Singh in connection with ‘Operation Prahar 2.0’.

Speaking to the media, Balkaur Singh said they had submitted a formal complaint to DGP A.S. Rai against their former manager and two others, alleging financial irregularities involving their son’s two companies. The complaint was forwarded to the SSP and an SP-level inquiry was conducted, he said.

“The file is now lying with the SSP, but no case has been registered. If the authorities want to protect one person, they should at least register a case against the other two. We have submitted all relevant documents to the police. If our complaint is false, they can name us as accused as well,” he said.

The family has been seeking action in the matter for several weeks, alleging delay despite submission of documentary evidence. Police officials have not yet issued a detailed statement on the demand for registration of an FIR.
