LUDHIANA: Senior Congress leader and former Atma Nagar MLA Simarjeet Singh Bains narrowly escaped unharmed after his car was fired upon in Ludhiana on Saturday. The incident occurred near Police Station Dehlon when Bains was leaving his farmhouse.
Sources said the attack was linked to a family dispute between Bains and his elder brother, Paramjit Singh Bains. Jagjot, Paramjit’s son, reportedly fired three rounds at the vehicle, one of which hit a tyre. Simarjeet Singh Bains was not injured.
Police reached the farmhouses of both brothers around 3:30 pm and questioned them for about three hours. The investigation is underway.
