Rohtak: The Rohtak police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged suicide of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sandeep Lather, who reportedly shot himself.
Sanjay Deswal, cousin of the deceased officer, confirmed the development, saying, “We have been informed that an SIT has been formed to probe the case.” According to sources, the SIT is headed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)-level officer.
Rohtak Superintendent of Police Surinder Singh Bhoria could not be reached for comment, and messages sent to him on WhatsApp remained unanswered.
Meanwhile, a police team visited Deswal’s office on the outskirts of Rohtak and questioned him regarding the circumstances surrounding ASI Sandeep’s death. The team also examined CCTV footage from cameras installed around the office.
According to initial reports, ASI Sandeep had gone to his cousin Sanjay Deswal’s office shortly before allegedly taking his own life.
