Panchmahal: Six persons were killed when the cable wire of a cargo ropeway snapped at the famous Pavagadh hill shrine in Gujarat’s Panchmahal district on Saturday, police said.
Superintendent of Police Haresh Dudhat confirmed the deaths and said police and fire brigade teams had reached the site to carry out rescue and relief operations.
The temple, located at an altitude of around 800 meters, is usually accessed by devotees through nearly 2,000 steps or by cable cars. However, officials said the ropeway had been closed for the public since morning due to bad weather.
