Chandigarh: A state-level religious programme was organised at Gurdwara Khuralgarh to mark the 650th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, along with the entire state cabinet, attended the event.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Mann said his government is following the path shown by Guru Ravidas Ji. He announced that programmes related to the 650th birth anniversary will be organised throughout the year across Punjab. Mann clarified that the government will act only as a facilitator, while decisions regarding venues and arrangements will be taken by the saintly community.
AAP Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia also addressed the gathering, stating that the government is guided by the teachings of Guru Ravidas Ji and is committed to providing equal rights and opportunities to all sections of society. He said the country needs politics that uplifts everyone, not just the friends and close associates of those in power.
The Chief Minister further said that seminars will be organised in universities as part of the year-long celebrations, along with religious congregations, kirtans and discourses at places suggested by the saint community. “The saintly community is rich in wisdom. We are only managers; all decisions will be taken as per their guidance,” he said.
Recalling a previous visit to Khuralgarh, Mann shared that he had received blessings from the saints to take decisions that benefit the common people. He said the teachings of Guru Ravidas Ji inspire the government to ensure that governance decisions bring relief and justice to society.
