Stubble burning rises in Uttar Pradesh, declines in Punjab

New Delhi: The number of stubble burning cases in North India has increased in Uttar Pradesh, while Punjab has recorded a significant decline this year.

Despite political debates blaming Punjab for contributing to stubble-related pollution, data shows that Uttar Pradesh is currently leading in such incidents. Between September 15 and October 21, Punjab reported 415 cases of stubble burning, while Uttar Pradesh recorded 660 cases during the same period.

Officials said Punjab has seen a 75 per cent drop in farm fire incidents so far, but the state continues to face criticism over air pollution in the northern region.
