Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday announced that he will contest the upcoming assembly elections from Gidderbaha. The declaration came while he was inaugurating the party office in the constituency, following repeated demands from local party workers.
Addressing supporters, Badal said that those who had “betrayed the party”, including Hardeep Singh Dhillon, would not be taken back into the SAD under any circumstances.
He interacted with party candidates contesting the block samiti and zila parishad elections and described the ongoing panchayati raj polls as a crucial test for the party’s strength at the grassroots level.
Badal urged party office-bearers to work collectively to ensure a decisive victory for SAD candidates in these elections. Earlier in the day, he also attended the foundation day celebrations of Malwa Public School.
