NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed Solicitor General Tushar Mehta’s request to allow virtual appearances for the chief secretaries of states, except West Bengal and Telangana, during the November 3 hearing in a case related to stray dogs.
A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta refused to entertain the plea and directed that the chief secretaries must appear in person before the court on the scheduled date.
“When we asked him to file an affidavit on compliance with the orders, he slept,” Justice Nath remarked, adding that there was no respect for the court’s directions. “Then all right, let them come,” the judge said.
