Supreme Court refuses to hear Amritpal Singh’s plea against NSA detention

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has refused to entertain a petition filed by Sri Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh challenging his detention under the National Security Act (NSA).

A bench of Justices Arvind Kumar and NV Anjaria directed Singh to approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court instead.

The top court also instructed the high court to decide on his plea within six weeks.

Amritpal Singh, the head of the ‘Waris Punjab De’ outfit, is currently lodged in Assam along with nine of his associates under the NSA.
