Suspended DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar’s judicial custody extended by 14 days

CHANDIGARH: A CBI court on Thursday extended the judicial custody of suspended DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar by another 14 days. Bhullar, who completed his earlier 14-day custody, was produced before the court through video conferencing.

The CBI did not seek his remand, following which the court remanded the suspended police officer to judicial custody till November 14. Bhullar and alleged middleman Krishna Sharda were arrested by the CBI on October 16.

Bhullar was taken into custody for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹8 lakh from a scrap dealer as ‘service water’. During subsequent raids at his residence in Sector 40, Chandigarh, the CBI seized ₹7.5 crore in cash and 2.5 kg of gold ornaments.

Officials also recovered 26 luxury watches, including Rolex and Rado brands, documents related to more than 50 immovable properties in the names of his family members and suspected benami entities, several bank account details, locker keys, 100 live cartridges, and four weapons.

The CBI has also registered a case against Bhullar for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
