Tejas fighter jet crashes during Dubai Air Show, pilot killed

Dubai: The Indian Air Force’s Tejas fighter jet crashed during a demonstration at the Dubai Air Show on Friday afternoon. The accident occurred during an ongoing air display at Al Maktoum Airport around 3:40 pm IST, according to media reports.

Eyewitnesses said the aircraft caught fire immediately after the crash and a plume of thick black smoke rose from the site inside the airport.

The Indian Air Force said the pilot lost his life in the incident. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the crash.

This is the second Tejas jet crash involving the Indian Air Force. In 2024, another Tejas aircraft went down during a manoeuvre in Pokhran, Rajasthan due to an engine failure.
