Pokhara/Kathmandu: Amid violent protests in Nepal by Gen Z youth against the government, an Indian tourist has appealed for help after her hotel was set on fire. Upsita Kale, who had come to Pokhara to host the Nepal Volleyball League, shared a video on social media describing the harrowing incident.
In the video, Kale said, “My name is Upsita Kale. I request the Indian Embassy to help us. The hotel where I was staying was completely burnt. All my belongings were inside. When I was in the spa, people were chasing me with big sticks. I somehow managed to save my life. The situation is very bad; tourists are not being spared.”
The protests erupted after the government imposed a ban on social media, angering youths already frustrated with corruption in the Oli administration.
The violence escalated across several cities, including Kathmandu, where even Parliament was set on fire. Foreign tourists, including Indians, have been caught in the chaos, raising serious safety concerns.
